The 'Memories of the Alwyn Vintcent' section of this Wiki offers the opportunity for people to contribute their thoughts, views, opinions or record their association with the AV.It would be great if there would be more contributors to this column. let's hear your stories. How about it guys? I'm particularly interested in what happenned to the AV after mid -995 until she was bought by private ownership in 2008. Cheers Thomas Do you find this valuable?

After 1994 she was leased out to boat charter company. They retained her steam plant, but placed a diesel hydraulic motor in her aft accomodation to drive the vessel. She then operated in this guise until 1999 and was laid up in the marina in 2000. She remained there until mid-2007 when a group of Italians expressed an interest in the vessel. They inspected her and all seemed well until they declined to purchase her. The AV was then moored alongside the SAS Somerset. In March 2008 I was alerted to the fact that the vessel was due to be cut up in May. Urgent emails and messages were sent to all interested people and one of these messages was placed on "Ships Nostalgia". Captain Bashford entered into the story and purchased the vessel.
